"Neftçi” Professional Football Club ("Neftçi” PFK) has signed a partnership agreement with Turkish national carrier Turkish Airlines. During the ceremony at Baku Olympic Stadium today in presence of media and special guests, the sides have signed a 1-year contract.


According to the agreement, this cooperation will be beneficial for both parties. Turkish Airlines logo will be reflected on the training forms of Neftçi PFK, club's social network accounts, including billboards, print materials, tickets, invitations and other information products. Also, a training base of the club will now be called Turkish Airlines Sports Center. Cooperation is a pilot project this year. In the future, Turkish Airlines will continue to contribute to the further development with the most established football club in Azerbaijan.


Neftçi PFK President Kamran Guliyev said at the event that the contract is a great success: "Neftçi PFK cooperation with Turkish Airlines is a a great honor for us. This is a reflection of big faith in Azerbaijani football and sports, Neftçi PFK future development from a worldwide brand of our brother country. We will also try to verify that trust, exceeding our commitments under the terms of the agreement. Let's develop the unity of these two brands, which is another manifestation of Azerbaijan-Turkey friendship in the future.


Founded in 1933 with five aircrafts, Turkish Airlines is currently a member of the Star Alliance. The four-star airline, which runs 304 (255 international and 49 domestic) destinations all over the world and comprise 326 (passenger and freight) airline, have won the Europe's Best Airline Award. The company sponsored clubs such as Barcelona, ​​Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund, and Shakhtar Donetsk and Turkey’s Big Four: Galatasaray, Besiktas, Fenerbahce and Trabzonspor.


Established in 1937, Neftçi PFK is the first professional football team of Azerbaijan, played its first official game on May 24, 1937. Until 1968 it was called "Neftyanik". The club has several nicknames, most popular among them are Oilers, People’s Team and Flagman. ‘Black and Whites’ are playing their home matches at Bakcell Arena, which has capacity of 11,000. Neftçi PFK is 8 times Azerbaijani champion (1992, 1995/1996, 1996/97, 2003/2004, 2004/2005, 2010/2011, 2011/2012, 2012/2013), 6 times Azerbaijani Cup winner (1994/1995, 1995/1996 , 1998/1999, 2003/2004, 2012/2013, 2013/2014) and 2 times Azerbaijani Supercup winner (1993, 1995). In 1966 Neftçi became third in the USSR championship. Other achievements include reaching group stage of 2012/13 UEFA Europa League, final of 2008 UEFA Intertoto Cup and winning of CIS Cup in 2006.
