Born on April 20, 1958, Boyukaga Hajiyev was the head coach of Neftchi in 2011-2013 and 2014.

The footballer started coaching after finishing his career. In 1999, he headed the Araz Nakhchivan club in Nakhchivan. However, due to financial difficulties, the club suspended its activities. Hajiyev continued his coaching career in Iran. For some time he worked as an assistant coach, and then as a head coach at the club "Mashinsazi" in Tabriz. In 2004 he transferred to the club "Traktorsazi". After working here for another season, he returned to the country and worked as an assistant head coach in the national team.

In 2006, 8 rounds before the end of the championship, Boyukaga was invited to the post of head coach of the football club "Baku", and for the first time as a coach he won the title of champion of Azerbaijan.

In the 2009-2010 season, he invited him to work at the "Standard" club in Sumgayit.

Boyukaga Hajiyev's "Neftchi" career began in 2011. Under his leadership, the flagship, which won the championship for two years in a row, won the right to play in the group stage of the Europa League in the 2012-2013 season, signing a first in the history of Azerbaijani football. However, he resigned next year after failing to pass the first round of the Champions League. After being unemployed for a while, he was re-appointed head coach of Neftchi in 2014. Under his leadership, our team won the Azerbaijan Cup twice (2013, 2014).

Boyukaga Hajiyev, who was awarded the Order of Glory in 2012 by the decision of President Ilham Aliyev, died on March 16, 2018.
