He was born on February 2, 1990 in Sumgayit. He started playing football at "Avey" football school in Agstafa. His first professional club was Sumgayit's club "Ganjlik-95" participating in the I Division. Later, he played for “Qarabağ”, MOİK, “Sumgayit”, “Ravan”, “Karsspor” (Turkey), “Zira” və “Garadagh Lokbatan”. He played for the U-17, U-19 and U-21 national teams.

At the age of 29, Emin Mustafayev finished his football career and started coaching.

He has successfully completed UEFA "B" category coaching course.
