Shirali Shiraliyev was born in 1912 in Salyan.

He was the first football coach in our country. In 1949, when "Neftchi" began to play in the strongest group, he worked as a second goalie in our team. In 1951-1952 he was appointed head coach. Then in 1952 and 1957-1958 he was the head of our team.

In 1962, at the event dedicated to the 50th anniversary of football in the republic, Shirali Shiraliyev was named Honored Coach of Azerbaijan. In the same year, the talented coach was awarded the title of "Physical Education and Sportsman of Azerbaijan."

Shirali Shiraliyev, who dedicated his whole life to our team, passed away in 1978.
